Experience unique moments from a safe environment
Syndesis is a start-up that provides a way to combat loneliness. We use VR and live footage from a 360 camera to offer immersive and safe experiences of concerts, theater, and many other events. In close collaboration with care professionals, we closely monitor the use of our product to ensure the best possible experience with Syndesis.
For new nursing homes interested in collaborating with Syndesis, we offer a free trial period for a group of 3-5 residents. During this trial, our team trains the staff and nurses of the nursing home on the effective use of our product. We also conduct a short conversation with the participating residents to gauge their interests and gather valuable feedback. After the trial, the nursing home can opt for a Syndesis subscription for a period of 6 or 12 months. Subscribers receive regular updates on upcoming events, and residents can participate for a small fee.
A staff member of the nursing home places the headset on the resident's head and checks if they feel comfortable. Sessions will take place in groups of approximately five users.
The event begins! The event will last a maximum of 20 minutes. If the event exceeds 20 minutes, there will be a break, and a new session of another 20 minutes will start. A staff member will be present to monitor all residents' experiences via a laptop with our software installed. In case of any issues, the staff member is ready to assist the users!
Once the event is over, users can discuss their impressions!
Our research department studies how Syndesis impacts elderly individuals in care facilities. We use data from the internet and recordings made during demonstrations with elderly people from various care facilities. These recordings are made with the elderly's consent, as they are crucial for determining their satisfaction. Would you like to learn more about our research? You can download it here.
We are a research team from the University of Twente, consisting of four students passionate about using technology to improve the lives of the elderly. With a deep commitment to our mission, we find creative solutions to help the elderly feel more connected to today’s society, divert them from their daily challenges, and enhance their overall mental well-being.
